Who will benefit from Acupuncture treatment?

How many treatments will I need?
Frequency of treatment varies by individual. Factors such as severity and duration of condition, overall state of health, and lifestyle will determine required frequency. Initially weekly treatments are recommended in order to maintain your energy balance. Each treatment builds on the previous ones. We will extend out the frequency as your body begins to heal and you notice improvement.
What reaction can I expect?
Every individual is unique, as is their response to treatment. Sometimes the first changes that occur do not improve the main complaint, but rather the overall state of health. You may notice better sleep, feel more relaxed, and be more at ease within yourself. These are all positive signs of better energy balance. With continued treatment and support, you will see an alleviation of the main symptom. Because every aspect of the person is affected by acupuncture treatment, you may experience changes physically, emotionally and mentally, as balance is restored.
Does it hurt?
Treatments are done with the fewest needles possible, and my needling technique is very gentle. Most insertions are just below the skin surface, and while you may feel a momentary ache or sting from the needle, these sensations are fleeting.
What are the needles like?
Acupuncture needles are as fine as a human hair and are made from the highest quality surgical stainless steel. They are pre-sterilized, disposable and single-use needles.
Can acupuncture work in combination with other medical treatment?
Classical Five Element Acupuncture may be used in cooperation with other care you are receiving. If you have been seeing a doctor for an ongoing condition, you may want to tell him or her that you are receiving acupuncture treatments. It is preferred that you do. I have many medical doctors that refer their patients to me for acupuncture treatment.
It is advised that you continue prescription medication exactly as directed by your physician.
Can I enhance my treatments?
Yes. To achieve maximum benefit from your treatment, you will need to be an active partner in caring for yourself. I will work with you to identify helpful changes that will support you in moving towards the optimum health that you wish to achieve.
Are acupuncture treatments covered by my insurance company?
More insurance companies are considering acupuncture to be a covered expense.
